Justin Townes Earle @ 930 Club 12/19/10

Considering I evoked Taylor Swift’s name not once, but TWICE in the month of October, I feel like I should return to my roots, such as it were.

My man, Justin Townes Earle, son of Steve Earle and modern day troubadour in his own right, will be performing at DC’s 930 Club on December 19. Tickets go on sale Dec 4.

I was concerned, but not terribly surprised, that JTE announced on Sep 22, 2010 that he was suspending his tour supporting his new album Harlem River Blues to enter rehab. Sharing the name “Earle” and “Townes” as well as evoking a young Hank Sr., it was almost a foregone conclusion.

But luckily for all, his rest was only for a few weeks before going back out on the road, which almost led me to think that it might have been a PR stunt. (Although I scorn myself for even entertaining such an idea.)

Such as it were, I’m happy he’s out doing what he does best. Performing. If you have a chance to see his live show, you won’t be disappointed. Still sad that he and his sideman Cory Younts parted ways, but Cory’s landed with Old Crow Medicine Show so it seems everybody’s alright.
